In The Hobbit, we are introduced to Beorn, the Skin-Changer. However, it appears he is alone in Wilderland. In The Lord of the Rings (appendices I think) we are given information about Grimbeorn, Beorn’s son, and there seems to be talk of a race of skin-changers.
Are there multiple skin-changers? When was Beorn born? Who is Grimbeorn’s mother?
I’d really appreciate any information about the Beornings.
The Beornings are not Beorn's original people. They were Woodmen and possibly other Men of the Anduin Vales that made him their chieftain after the events of the Battle of Five Armies. It seems most likely that only Beorn and his direct descendants were able to skin-change.
Well it be how we choose to define them as one I guess.
