I have found using the Evernote App on my phone useful when plot ideas pop up in my head. I can get them down rather than losing them to the ether. I am already thinking about a sequel to my story on Wattpad. , That will take place in the fourth age, possibly in the East. But at present, it is just note ideas as I've still got to finish my first story. Though the ending is sorted I've still got to get there.
It this going to be a story about King Elessar and his efforts to secure the Reunited Kingdoms against threats both external and internal? That could also explore the pressures those efforts might place on the relationship between Aragorn and his family and friends.
Appendix A of The Lord of the Rings (see "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen") provides a brief summary of Aragorn's activities in the Fourth Age, but there are a lot of details that are left to the imagination.
Actually this is gonna incorporate the element of a cult from Tolkien's abandoned sequel and take place 100 years after the Downfall of Sauron. This will also take place in the East, possibly Rhun, and answer the question as to what happened to the orcs, men and uruk-hai after the fall.
@Endgame Studios Okay. 100 years after the fall of Sauron Aragorn still lives and rules as King Elessar. Their son Eldarion has probably reached adulthood by now. Orcs have died out, at least in Gondor and Arnor, though colonies might still exist in other regions.

Here are some questions that may help:
What story do you want to tell? That's probably the most important question to answer.
Who are the characters?
What is the crisis the heroes need to deal with?
How long after the events of LOTR will this take place?
