I decided to start working on this a while ago, I spent some time collecting useful information about names and things like that. I'm still a long time away from actually making this story but I could use some help with names.
The story would focus on two Rangers of the North, Alaphaer and his uncle Celebnir. There would be other people but in order to avoid this post being too long I will only focus on these two. My main worry is to make the names according to Tolkien's rules and grammar.
Alaphaer (Elm Spirit) - this name was made by a person who runs a site which makes Middle Earth names. The name ran into some problems while I posted it on Reddit, with come people claiming how it's not correct and it should be Alafaer. Then I found out about a certain individual who knew a lot about naming and overall grammar of Sindarin. He said Alaphaer is actually correct. I hope it is but still a third opinion would be greatly appreciated.
Celebnir (Silver Man) - this name was made by me at it was originally Celebdan. However I was told Celebdan is incorrect and the proper translation for Silver Man would be Celebnir. Is it correct?
That's all I wanted to ask today. I have a long journey ahead of me for this story. I'm currently on a 1 year plan reading most of the books Tolkien had made. I really want to become knowledgeable as much as possible before I start writing. If any of you reading this wish to help more with names, plot, lore or maybe art, I would be most grateful.
Thank you all for reading.
