For me, I prefer songs in the films simply because you can hear them and thus properly experience them. However, the songs in the books do have beautiful lyrics.
I totally agree - βThe Last Goodbyeβ by Billy Boyd is just amazing and my favourite song from the films. I also really like βI see fireβ by Ed Sheeran from the Desolation of Smaug.
Of course I love Aragorn's coronation song (obviouslyπ) in Return of the King but I always shed a tear when the harps start for Annie Lennox's Into the West!!π (I try to fight it every time, but even after over 10 attempts, it still gets me!!) I also love Billy Boyd singing on the Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies - The Last Goodbye!πͺπͺπ
Probably the dwarves' "Misty Mountains" song. I'd say that my favorite arrangement is from the Mind's Eye audio drama, followed by the version from An Unexpected Journey, and then the animated movie.
By far Billy Boyd's "Last Goodbye." Seriously, no contest. The ending of the Battle of the Five Armies was one of the most beautiful pieces of cinematography I have ever seen and I cry whenever I stop and think about it.
