The Dawnless Day lasted from March 10 to March 15. The sunlight was blocked, leaving Gondor in darkness.

EDIT: I suspect, though, that the Dawnless Day was even more gloomy.
Sky is still orange today, but at least there's a bit of sunlight filtering through. However, there's a lot more smoke.
Although I compared it to the Dawnless Day in this forum, I told my students to pretend they're living in Mars.
