I found Ghân-buri-Ghân very interesting in the book and was disappointed to never learn anything else of him and his people. If my memory serves he allowed Aragorn and company to pass through the woods and no one saw Ghân-buri-Ghân or his people until he wanted them to. They seemed quite powerful in their own sense and I've always wished to know more.

First, you can change your text color to white (or something else). I'm assuming that you didn't leave it dark intentionally to hide potential spoilers.
The Woses were part of a greater people called the Drúedain by the Eldar. They were a short and unlovely folk; Tolkien might have based them on Neaderthal Man. Friends and allies to the House of Haleth, they were sort of an unofficial fourth house of the Edain. In the Third Age, Drúedain dwelt in the Drúadan Forest in Anorien and in the White Mountains in the Cape of Andrast west of Gondor. See Tolkien's essay "The Drúedain" in Unfinished Tales.
