This always confused me. she didn't sail west i'm guessing as she was now mortal (if extremely long loved), but why travel to lothlorien there were no elves left there and it was just a ruin. why did she not get laid to rest besides her king/ husband/ lover Aragorn. I mean if two hobbit friends could be then surely his wife could have been.

You confused me at first by posting this in the LOTR Movie forum. We don't find out any of this in the films, but only know the end of Arwen's story from Tolkien's appendices.
But, yes, Arwen could not take back her choice to live as a mortal woman and so was forbidden to sail into the West. She chose to give up her life on the hill of Cerin Amroth in Lothlórien because this was where she and Aragorn had betrothed themselves to each other at Midsummer in T.A. 2980.
Where would their children be laid to rest - I know of one son, Eldarion but what happened to the daughters?? - or have I completely mistaken this?🙄🤓
Your memory serves you well. Aragorn and Arwen did have at least two daughters (never named in the legendarium). Presumably, there was a royal family crypt for King Elessar and his descendants. Whether that would have been in Gondor or Arnor I do not know.
