Hi guys , as a novice fan i have recently finished reading the Silmarillion , it always agonizes me to think that Nírnaeth Arnoediad with all the lives of elves and men lost there and the great leaders of the free people that fell that day , was lost not only due to the betrayal of the newly arriving Easterlings , but as i see it , the main reason was the declining of Doriath And Nargothrond to participate in the war .
I always wonder what if doriath with all its might , great king and powerful maiar . and Nargothrond with its full force have entered the Union of Maedhros . could that have resulted in a decisive victory for the sons of eluvatar ? and what would be the consequences and aftermath if that really happened .
any of you guys with a better knowledge than myself can add to this matter ?
and im sorry for my weak english , its a 3rd language for me.
I doubt Thingol would have entered the Union of Maedhros even without the misdeeds of Celegorm and Curufin. Keep in mind Thingol "did not have the strength to assail the sons of Feanor," so his army wasn't that powerful.
I think the forces of Doriath and Nargothrond may have delayed the defeat of the Free People but I doubt they would have been enough to turn the tide of the battle.
I did not know that Doriath did not have a power enough even for Assailing the sons of feanor , and i know for a fact that the Nolder could never defeat Morgoth and win the war , but i still think that if the union of maedhros had been complete that battle may have been a victory , i personally think that a victory that day might have meant a new siege of angband for a couple of hundreds of years at most , but this is for sure still a better fate than what actually happened.
thank you sir for replying .
I found a video about the battle. Does this channel have a video on it?
