Would people like to see a tv adaptation of the silmarillion? i know its almost a reference book more than anything else but I personally would find it really interesting.

The Silmarillion- should it be made into a TV series
The Silmarillion- should it be made into a TV series

I would love to see many of the stories in the Silmarillion made into a TV series. Beren and Luthien would be awesome.
As much as I would love this, I can't say I want it made. I believe it would be changed and altered too much to cater to people who might not love Tolkien's work as much as we do and ultimately be ruined by incompetent writers who, let's say 'project' modern themes into it. Sorry to be a stick in the mud.
So what is your outlook on the Amazon series? Surely that production could suffer the same fate?
@masonbryant95 Good point. So I would amend my comment and include the caveat "if the TV series was filmed to be as accurate to the source material as possible."
I think it the possibility of a series from a story from the Silmarillion in more likely... rather than the entire book as a series.. if that makes sense. There are too many tales within the Silmarillion for it to make sense as one series.
The Tale of Feanor and Fingolfin would make a great series in my opinion!
Maybe it could be told documentary style? With lots of maps and paintings. (Not unlike the HME Lore videos which are fantastic!)
Thanks 😊 Although hopefully it does to get made in a documentary style... It would be taking our job away from us 🤣🤣
@Jake Rogers Ha! Good point. I've read The Silmarillion a few times and it's hard work. The language is so beautiful but it's difficult to parse and it doesn't dip into straight narrative very often. But I love how the result of those elements make it feel ancient and kind of dimly perceived. It'd be great if a tv show could retain a little bit of that somehow.
Seeing how the latest books were published based from Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales, i.e. Fall of Gondolin, Children of Hurin, Beren and Luthien, The Tolkien Trust could franchise them individually whether film or television. Instead of the whole Silmarillion book. meaning the first age could be solo /individual works. Who knows what could be a movie or TV?
Yeah I think doing the individual stories would be best. I would personally prefer to see them expanded in a TV series rather than a movie!
I was thinking that Amazon should do The Silmarillion instead of the second age (whatever they're doing) because it has more background. My fear is what ever they do, it's not going to be loyal to the books. Peter Jackson was given a huge job with Lord of the Rings, he did okay, but he left alot out a changed some things (like Glorfindel replaced by Arwen). One of the loyallest adaptions I've seen (it's still my favorite) is Return of the King (1980). They did a fairly good job (LOTR is not meant for little kids) and despite not having rights to The Fellowship and The Two Towers, they did a impressive job at background. I know that Legolas and Gimli aren't in the movie except cameos, but they did use the "foul dwimmerlaik" insult, which was bold to use in a kids movie. They even included Samwise's Ring moment :) "The Gardens of my Delight!" , which I've seen people scoff at, but it's in the book and shows even Sam was tempted by the ring. I'd like to go on, but I'm afraid I'd bore you to death or go on forever, so I'll stop here :). Still, I'm interested to see what Amazon has to offer.
An Animation\Anime Adaptation of the first age would be a good idea , since a live action adaptation would be too limited for that great world .
Call me childish, but I would like to see it as a cartoon
Hey, I've suggested more than once that "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen" could be adapted as a direct-to-video animated movie. Such promotional projects were popular not that long ago.
