when sauron convinced them to invade and attack the gods what the hell did he say. men knew the gods couldnt be killed they knew they were all powerful, they knew the couldnt win, why did they even try. it sounds really stupid to me yes it sounds courageous but it was stupid did not 1 or 2 of them turn round and say this is a really idea maybe we shouldn't?

All the ones who knew it was a bad idea left Numenor and became the Dunedain. All the others were so corrupted by Sauron that their pride had overcome their common sense.
I've been wondering why the Valar's forces didn't just defeat them in battle. I think they could have, but for some reason they didn't want to.
I don't know what this is from (If it's LOTR, I've forgotten) anyway, it seems to me that The Valar knew they were corrupted or they didn't want to pretty much kill off a race.
It seems like they would have felt a lot of guilt for punishing them like that, as if they were tyrants rather than stewards.
